Dietetics Newcastle
Helping you manage diabetes and kidney health through personalised nutrition, guided by expert dietetic care.Personalised nutrition for real life whether you are having health issues or just need guidance, we can put a plan in place to support you.
Dietetics at IDOS uses clinical nutrition to support individuals through illness, manage symptoms, slow the progression of disease, and improve everyday health and quality of life. A registered dietitian reviews your symptoms, medical history, routine and preferences, then creates a safe, evidence-based plan you can follow. The service offers one to one consultation, clear written steps and follow up, with targeted blood tests where helpful and, with your consent, updates shared with your GP. This service provides expert dietetic support for people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and type 1 or type 2 diabetes. We focus on improving blood glucose control, blood pressure, cholesterol and protecting kidney function through practical, evidence-based dietary advice.
Who is it for
This service is for anyone who is finding it difficult to manage their blood sugar levels, cholesterol, or blood pressure; wants support to slow the progression of kidney disease; needs clear advice on low-potassium or low-phosphate diets; or is struggling to balance the dietary needs of both kidney disease and diabetes. The service is also suitable for people from South Asian backgrounds, who may have a higher risk of developing diabetes and related kidney problems, and who would benefit from culturally appropriate, personalised dietary advice.

Your appointments are relaxed and supportive. We’ll take time to understand you — your medical history, symptoms, medications and supplements, usual meals and snacks, activity levels. Together, we’ll talk through what’s working, what feels challenging, and what matters most to you. We’ll also review recent blood tests and, where helpful, suggest targeted checks such as kidney function, haemoglobin, vitamin D, HbA1c, or cholesterol — all to make sure your plan is truly personalised and supports your long-term health.
We will use step-by-step goal setting, so nothing feels overwhelming. You’ll leave with two or three clear, practical actions that fit your routine and preferences, plus a plan for follow-up and ongoing support. Modifying your diet is a lifestyle change and often needs ongoing support with making gradual changes that are sustainable. Therefore, it is might be beneficial to think about the various follow-up packages we offer to help meet your goals.
Your plan is tailored to your kidney stage, diabetes type, blood results, medications, lifestyle, culture, and food preferences. Recommendations are realistic, flexible, and designed to fit into your daily life.
To get the most from your visit, bring recent blood test results, a list of your current medications, and details of your usual eating pattern. Writing down questions or concerns in advance can also help guide the session.
