Private Weight Loss Clinic Newcastle

Medical weight loss with ongoing support

At IDOS, we combine clinically-proven weight-loss medicines with GP-led care and nurse led coaching. We can offer and sometimes recommend  blood tests, nutrition, exercise  and counselling so you’re supported at every step. We encourage behaviour change which is key to this service. The aim is simple: safe, sustainable weight loss that improves health, energy and confidence.

Who this is for

  • Adults with BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with weight-related conditions (e.g., high blood pressure, pre-diabetes).
  • People who want structured medical support alongside nutrition and lifestyle coaching.

What’s included

Medications we may use include:
Mainly Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) however we are happy to review any of the other weightloss medications if you think this may be more beneficial to you. Mounjaro is a prescription injection that help reduce appetite and improve fullness when combined with lifestyle changes. Your clinician will confirm what’s suitable for you.

What the programme involves

Your journey starts with a detailed GP assessment which will determine three things:
1. Your suitability for our weight loss service.
2. Whether you would have monthly monitoring via the GP or via the nurse (coaching)
3. Which add ons you may benefit from or to reduce risks for example blood testing at the start of the service and at 5 months.

Once you have been allocated to either the GP led service or caoching service (via nurse) , you’ll receive training on how to use medication safely, plus regular check-ins to monitor results and side-effects, and to tailor food, sleep and movement habits to your life.

Add Ons
You’ll also have blood tests and /or meet our nutritionist and counsellor at key points to build routines that last. These add ons are scheduled to make the treatment rewarding, safe and worth while.

Preparing for your Weight Loss Clinic visit

Bring a list of current medicines and supplements, any recent blood test results, and a note of previous weight loss attempts (what helped, what didn’t). If you track sleep or activity, a 1–2 week snapshot is useful. Please eat and drink as normal unless we ask you to fast for bloods; wear sleeves that roll up easily for checks.

What to expect over the first 6 weeks

Most people notice steadier appetite and improved portion control within the first few weeks. We’ll review progress monthly, troubleshoot side-effects (for example nausea or reflux) and fine-tune dose and food choices. Your team will help with practical wins such as meal structure, protein and fibre targets, weekend planning, so change feels doable on busy days, not just perfect ones.

The week prior to your monthly coaching visit with the nurse, the team will send you an email to enquire how you have been in general. This allows the team to decide, along with you, on whether a dose increase is required. At that point the team order your next pen with 4 injections, and you collect it the following week at your appointment. A coaching  appointment with the nurse includes height, weight, BMI and waist -height ratio, BP and a review of the client wellbeing, side effects and how they are maanging with the injections and safe disposal of the needles. This is repeated at every montly appointment.

Private Weight Loss Clinic Newcastle – FAQ

Not all questions fit on a page. If you’re unsure which option is right for you, contact the IDOS team and we’ll recommend the safest next step.
If you are in the UK and have urgent or emergency symptoms use NHS 111 or call 999.

Who is eligible?

Adults with BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition (e.g., hypertension) may be eligible after a GP assessment. Suitability depends on medical history, medicines and blood results.

We may prescribe semaglutide (Wegovy®) or tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) as part of a wider plan. These weekly injections help you feel satisfied with less food and are most effective alongside nutrition and lifestyle changes. We’ll explain how they work and train you to use them safely.

Results vary, but many people achieve clinically meaningful weight loss when medicines are combined with our structured programme and monthly reviews. We focus on safe loss, improved health markers (such as blood pressure and HbA1c), and habits you can sustain.

Are there side-effects?

Common effects include nausea, fullness, indigestion or constipation. These are usually manageable with dose-titration, food tweaks and timing advice. We’ll monitor you closely and adjust the plan as needed. Tell us promptly about any symptoms so we can support you.

You can still benefit from medical, nutrition and counselling support. Your GP will outline non-injection options, set targets and provide regular reviews so you remain fully supported.

The longer than 6 months programme provides maintenance with continued GP follow-ups, targeted check-ins with the nutritionist, and scheduled blood tests. Together we’ll agree how to step down treatment and protect your progress long-term.
