Support for sexual wellbeing and relationships in a confidential, non‑judgemental space.
How can our sexuality be fully lived nowadays, with non-judgemental thoughts? And mostly, with pleasure and connection? Sexuality, gender identity, intimacy, and relational issues are addressed with empathy and expertise. This therapy supports clients facing concerns such as erectile dysfunction, libido changes, or sexual trauma.
Psychosexual counselling at IDOS helps you understand what’s driving difficulties such as desire mismatch, performance anxiety, pain, arousal or orgasm concerns, and the impact of health or life events on intimacy. Sessions move at your pace and focus on practical changes you can make, individually or as a couple.
If another approach would serve you better (for example CBT or medical review), we’ll explain options and coordinate care.

Specialist in psychosexual therapy and sexual diversity
We’ll agree goals together, look at patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and address physical, relational and psychological factors that may be involved. Your therapist will offer clear guidance between sessions so you can build confidence and sustain improvements.
In a confidential, non-judgemental space we look at what is happening now and what has changed, whether that is desire mismatch, performance anxiety, pain with sex, arousal or orgasm difficulties, the impact of health conditions or life events, or worries about relationships and confidence. We will agree goals together, explore patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and build practical steps you can try between sessions. Where helpful we can coordinate with your IDOS GP or other practitioners (for example pelvic health, hormones, medication review) so support is joined up. You will leave with clear next steps and a plan for follow-up.

Psychosexual Counselling – FAQ
If your question isn’t answered below, please contact us directly. We’ll be happy to advise the safest next step.
If you are in the UK and have urgent or emergency symptoms use NHS 111 or call 999.
A talking therapy that addresses sexual wellbeing and relationships. It can help with desire mismatch, performance anxiety, erection or arousal difficulties, pain with sex, difficulties with orgasm, and the effects of stress, health issues or past experiences. Suitable for individuals or couples.
Either is fine. Many people start on their own to understand their concerns and invite a partner later if useful.
We discuss your goals, take a careful history at a pace that feels safe, and agree a plan. You will have time to ask questions. If something feels too personal to share at first, tell us and we will go step by step.
Sessions are confidential. With your consent we can share a brief summary with your GP if coordination would help. We do not share information with partners without your permission. If there is a serious risk of harm, we will explain what needs to be shared and why.
Most people notice progress within 4 to 6 sessions, though some need fewer and some choose longer term work. Appointments are typically 50 to 60 minutes. We review regularly and adjust the plan together.
You will leave sessions with clear strategies to try at home, such as communication tools, graded exposure, sensate focus, and ways to reduce anxiety. If medical assessment could help (for example pelvic pain, hormonal questions, medication effects), we can coordinate with an IDOS GP or suggest a referral.
