Who we see: Offshore & marine workers (OEUK, Seafarer/ENG1-equivalent), safety-critical roles, visa/travel fitness, and bespoke corporate requests.
Where: IDOS, Unit 23 St Peter’s Wharf, Newcastle. Easy access and on-site diagnostics.
Turnaround: Same-day certificates for OEUK where possible; fast lab links for bloods.
Core checks available on site: GP consultation, vision testing, audiometry, urinalysis, ECG, spirometry.
Role-specific extras: Chester Step (aerobic capacity), substance/alcohol screening (including chain of custody), overnight oximetry, 24-hour BP monitoring.
Paperwork we handle: OEUK, Seafarer (ENG1-equivalent), travel fitness, visa medicals, and employer-specific or embassy forms.
Requirements vary by employer and industry, and the method can differ too (urine, blood, laboratory confirmation). Please contact reception with the details of your request so we can arrange the correct test quickly and accurately. Most screens are completed on the day, with results available at your appointment.
You’ll check in for a GP-led consultation and the tests required for your role (for example: vision, audiometry, urinalysis, ECG or spirometry). Where job-specific testing is requested, we’ll complete it in the same visit whenever possible, such as the Chester Step or substance/alcohol screening. Your clinician explains each result in plain English and issues your certificate or report as soon as requirements are met.
If you have a work medical request, we suggest you contact reception outlining what it is that you require and by when. Please provide us with the paperwork you have been asked to complete, as this often allows us to create a quote. Our team will provide a quote within 48 hours (sometimes sooner), outlining what is required and how this will be achieved. If your medical is required urgently, please inform reception. We can then let you know whether this request is feasible. We have 6 days a week availability for medicals and reception will organise the most suitable appointment for you.
We usually provide a medical report on the day, however , if you have blood tests or off-site CXR etc. then the report is only completed after all the results have been received. This usually takes 5 working days.
