Massage

Calm, hands-on treatment that eases muscle tension and supports overall wellbeing. Choose therapeutic or aromatherapy massage at IDOS, tailored to how you feel on the day.

Release tension, feel restored

Our massage therapists offer restorative, therapeutic bodywork for pain relief, stress, injury, or general wellbeing. Styles include clinical, sports, and holistic techniques and are available alongside Aromatherapy with Sayuri or by Roberta.

We start with a short chat about where you feel tight or sore and what you want from the session. Your practitioner then uses a blend of techniques to relax muscles, improve circulation and reduce everyday aches caused by work, stress or sport. Pressure is adjusted to your comfort. If it helps, we can coordinate with your IDOS GP or therapy team so everything stays joined up and safe.

Who it is for: People with desk related stiffness, stress related tension, simple post exercise soreness, or anyone who wants a calm reset and better sleep.

Practitioners:

Sayuri M. Naruse

With a MSc in Health Psychology and a BSc (Hons) in Health and Wellbeing, Sayuri’s passion for massage reflects in her continuous research on the effect of massage as a visiting researcher.

How sessions run

Sessions are usually on a treatment couch with towels for comfort and privacy. We select techniques based on your goals, such as Swedish style strokes for relaxation, deeper work for problem areas, and optional aromatherapy oils for a soothing effect. Typical structure:

  • First session: brief history, areas of focus, pressure preference, full or part body routine to settle tension.
  • Follow ups: target common hotspots like neck, shoulders, back or legs; progress pressure and techniques as you feel ready.
  • At home support: simple stretches, heat or cold advice, and posture tips to keep you comfortable between sessions.

What to bring

Wear comfortable clothing and arrive well hydrated. Avoid heavy meals or alcohol before your session. Tell us about any injuries, skin conditions, allergies, pregnancy or medical diagnoses so we can adapt the treatment and choose suitable oils. If you prefer an oil free massage, let us know.

“I came to Idos for a sports massage as my shoulders were very stiff and sore. Roberta was fantastic and really helped to relieve the tension. She also explained the potential roots of the problem as well as giving future solutions. I highly recommend.”

Massage – FAQ

If your question isn’t answered below, please contact us directly. We’ll be happy to advise the safest next step.
If you are in the UK and have urgent or emergency symptoms use NHS 111 or call 999.

What type of massage do you offer?

We provide therapeutic massage focused on relaxation and easing tension, with optional aromatherapy oils. Sessions are tailored to your goals and pressure preference, from very gentle to firm.

Everyday neck and shoulder tightness, back ache from desk work, general stress, simple post exercise soreness and trouble winding down. Massage supports wellbeing and better sleep. It works alongside, not instead of, medical care.

Only to your comfort level. You will be covered with towels and only the area being worked on is uncovered. If you would like a clothed treatment, ask for an oil free approach and we will adapt.

Some people feel a change after the first session; a short series is common for longer standing issues. An initial appointment with Roberta is always 90 minutes and follow up appointments are 45 to 60 minutes. All appointments with Sayuri are 60minutes. We will agree a plan that fits your goals and schedule.

Is massage safe if I have a health condition or I am pregnant?

In many cases yes, with the right adaptations. Please tell us about any conditions, medications or pregnancy so we can keep you safe. We avoid deep pressure over areas of acute injury, active inflammation, skin infection or varicose veins. If we think a GP review is sensible first, we will explain why.

Many people benefit from a few sessions close together, then occasional top ups. Appointments are typically 45 to 60 minutes and can focus on one area or be full body.

You may feel very relaxed or a little tender where deeper work was done. Mild redness is normal and fades quickly. Drink water, rest if you need to, and follow any aftercare advice we provide.

Not sure which massage is right for you?

Tell us how you are feeling and any health concerns. We will advise whether therapeutic or aromatherapy massage, another complementary therapy or a GP appointment is the best first step.
