Dr Ahmed Jaafar
Dr Jaafar is a consultant geriatrician who acquired his primary medical degree in Baghdad in 1997 and started his postgraduate training in the UK in 2000 completing specialist training in 2009. Dr Jaafar has been working as a consultant geriatrician in Newcastle (Freeman/RVI) since 2009 and has an area of subspecialty in falls and syncope. With more than 12 years of consultant experience, Dr Jaafar also works in acute medical admissions, has rehabilitation beds in the Freeman Hospital and is the named Adults safeguarding Doctor in Newcastle Hospitals.
Dr Jaafar has also held various positions in education and training including Royal College of Physicians tutor, associate clinical lecturer in Newcastle University medical school, medical appraiser and the chair of North East Orthogeriatrics Network.
Having spent most of my postgraduate training in the North East I decided to settle in Newcastle. I have 3 daughters who were all born here. My wife, children and I all love outdoor walking. We continue to keep our links abroad but are proud to be dual nationals and love the region and its people.
