Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. It uses the concept of energy and meridians to rebalance your body and help it work in harmony at its very best. It has a multitude of benefits, with some people having stronger responses than others.

Acupuncture is often used alongside traditional Chinese herbal medicine to treat chronic conditions by improving the flow of energy through the body. Our Idos practitioner also offers Massage, Gua Sha and Cupping.

Conditions treated include stress, headaches, sleep, menopause and pain.

Shiatsu

Please check session times under ‘more info’ on bookings page.

Shiatsu is a complementary bodywork therapy that originated in Japan. It sees this ‘golden chain of spirited life’ in terms of life energy or ‘chi’ that flows through the body in pathways called meridians. Symptoms occur when the energy stops flowing freely.

Literally meaning ‘finger pressure’, Shiatsu uses a variety of techniques like palming, thumbing, holding, press-ing and stretching sensitively applied to specific parts of the body to rebalance and revitalise the chi flow. People remain fully clothed during treatments which take place on a padded mat at floor level, on a massage table or in a chair if lying down is unsuitable.

You are likely to benefit from this service if you suffer from back pain, headaches, joint pain, digestive problems, insomnia, depression, stress, menstrual issues, hormonal imbalances, healthy pregnancy and ease of childbirth

Qigong (pronounced ‘chee-gung’) is an internal Chinese health and longevity exercise system that uses smooth, gentle movements to activate and rebalance the energy meridians throughout the body, stimulating the flow of blood and oxygen in the body.

Frequently quiet and meditative, you will learn exercises that can be learned in a short space of time that you can enjoy practising in a group, or in your own time at home. Many people incorporate Qigong into a daily routine which can play a profound part in pre-venting illness and improving sleep.

Aromatherapy

Clinical Aromatherapy Massage is one of the most effective ways of massage using high-quality essential oils blended for individual needs. Each essential oil has its unique healing properties based on the chemical constituent.

Clinical Aromatherapy Massage is distinct from ordinary aromatherapy practice. It has a substantial empirical research basis and an associated international professional organisation. Whereas ordinary aromatherapy is primarily used as relaxation or de-stressing technique, clinical aromatherapy is used to treat a range of traditional physical problems such as muscle aches & pains but also a wide variety of psychological and emotional problems.

Sayuri’s special interests are tension, aches & stiffness; emotional pains; stress-related problems; and digestive complaints. She uses acupressure points and Myofascial Techniques (Trigger Point Therapy) combined with techniques from Shiatsu and Thai traditional massage and breathing techniques. She also guides aftercare and self-massage. Her motivation is to bring physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wholeness to her clients.

Personal Training

Personal training can have many benefits to your overall wellbeing and improve your quality of life. Over the years our practitioner Pete Sweeney has worked with a vast amount of illnesses such as cancers, chronic fatigue, diabetes, chrones, IBS, depression, anxiety, PTSD, heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, herniated discs, car accident rehab, ex-footballers, professional cyclists, elderly patients to increase quality of life and gastric surgery to name a few.

He has spent a lot of time researching and practising exercise themselves, working around injuries to find the most effective way to gain progress with putting as little stress on the body as possible to therefore reduce the risk of further injury.

If you have a day job that is very sedentary we can work to counteract that by engaging and developing postural muscles and implementing a healthier lifestyle routine, i strongly believe that giving clients the knowledge to implement behaviour in their day to day life is just as important in the physical work done within the sessions.
